In the twenty years between 1950 and 1970, Jaguar produced no fewer than six different big saloon models, all of them powered by the legendary Xk twincam sixcylinder engine. The first design covered the 1950s and began wwith the Mk Vii, a Mk Viii in 1956 and then a Mk Ix in 1958. The second design covered the 1960s, beginning with the Mk X in 1961, which in turn became a 420G in 1966.
