The image of Marcos was shaped by Dennis Adams' styling of the cars, which started out with a Volvo-engined 1800 in the early 1960s. That shape went on to be modified into the Mantula, Spyder and Mantara. Always designed as a fast road car this depended on the engine chosen. In the GT the Volvo B18 was supplemented by Ford 1600, Volvo 3-litre and later the Rover 3.5-litre V8. In the Mini-Marcos the 850cc engine eventually grew to 1300cc giving impressive performance. JAGUAR XJS GOLD PORTFOLIO 1975-1988
The XJS was introduced in Sept. 1975 at a time when Jaguar had a reputation for poor reliability. The V12 engine was hit by the fuel crisis but the HE engine solved that problem and in 1981 finish and reliability were greatly improved making the post 1981 cars more desirable. The introduction of the 6-cylinder model in 1984 boosted its popularity, and sales in 1987 were nearly eight times those of 1981. Other models followed including cabriolets and convertibles.
